The departmentally-owned Maurice Denis museum is in Saint Germain en Laye near Paris and is housed in an imposing building dating back to the time of Madame de Montespan. Acquired in 1914 by the painter and theoretician of the Nabi movement, Maurice Denis, the house was frequently visited by numerous artists and writers such as Gauguin and Filiger, whose work is also represented in the museum’s collections.
