André Derain's Studio - Chambourcy

The creator of Fauvism along with Vlaminck and Matisse, André Derain lived for 20 years in this lovely house in Chambourcy in the Yvelines dating from the XVIIth century. On entering the studio, you have the feeling that the painter has just popped out for a stroll in the grounds. Nothing has changed since his death. You can almost imagine him sitting on one of the terraces with his dearest friends, Alberto Giacometti, Georges Braque, Balthus, Paul Poiret, the Jouhandeaux and others. A cultural excursion not to be missed on your stays in the Yvelines near Paris.
