Trips around Paris: Recently, the estate and ruins of the abbey of Port-Royal des Champs and the nationally-owned Granges de Port-Royal estate were amalgamated to form the nationally-owned estate of Port-Royal des Champs. It was here that the so-called Solitaires accommodated and taught some of their pupils, among them the celebrated dramatist Jean Racine. Today it is home to a rich collection of engravings, old books, portraits and works reflecting the history and the battles of conscience which were fought out here several centuries ago.
