Built for Queen Marie Antoinette during the reign of Louis XVI, the Queen’s Dairy is one of the follies on the Château de Rambouillet estate. Set in the heart of a landscaped garden, it is a sumptuous edifice of sandstone and marble whose domed hall is richly decorated with seven tiers of rose motifs. The Queen’s Dairy also boasts an man-made grotto housing a sculpture by Pierre Julien. With a direct link by rail from Paris Montparnasse, it is very near Paris and Versailles and an ideal place to visit on your days out in the Yvelines and excursions from Paris.
